Ladder Max Stand \off Stabilizer

It works as shown in the picture and helps me keep my ladder off my gutter. You can easily attach it to your ladder. The only reason for the 4-star rating is the assembly instructions. They could be a little better written and the illustrations could be made clearer. But, it does work as stated.

Very dangerous using L-M S-off S to get on to the roof; otherwise, it WILL protect your gutters. I would advise purchasing the optional part to gain access to your roof.

It is one of the only standoffs that meets OSHA guidelines for roof access. You place it on the 3rd and 4th rungs of your ladder allowing 3 feet of your ladder to extend up above the roof edge and side step onto the roof while using the ladder as stability. Thanks, I'll try it if I can extend mine that much. However, could this cause a greater tendency for the bottom to kick out since the pivot point has moved toward the bottom, resulting in increased torque on the upper moment arm. I am impressed that you take time to read reviews.

Hello again Joe, thank you for your response and allowing us the opportunity to assist you. Getting on the roof is always a bit scary but the ladder will not kick out. The design of the Ladder-Max transfers the weight and force to the end of the arms and then onto the roof. Because the arms are spread wide an extend up onto the hip of the roof you will find it very sturdy. Please check the angle of your ladder, A simple rule for setting-up the ladder at the proper angle is to place the base a distance from the wall or upper support equal to one-quarter of the extended length of the ladder side rails. Doesn't work for ladders with comfortably deep rungs

Please note in the product descriptions that the ladder's rungs can be no wider than 2 inches. For the most part, that means you have tubular steps and not flat steps. My heavy-duty (300 lb) ladder has flat steps that are 3 1/2 inches deep. These are much more comfortable to stand on than the narrower tubular rungs that this product is designed for.
I figure that I'll need to get another ladder to use this with, because I still need something like this for cleaning leaves from gutters. I'm just disappointed that this isn't described in the spec's and made more prominent. On the Ladder-Max website, which I perused prior to making a purchase. I couldn't find any mention of this. It would be nice if the company made another model that would work with the deeper rungs.
As mentioned by others, the assembly is slightly tricky, but not too bad. The instructions are simple (and should be followed carefully). The "tricky" part is that it would be nice to have a second set of hands when lining up the first few bolts. -

Received the product in a timely manner from the vendor. The product was easy to put together after taking a moment to review the instruction and the illustration. The illustration was not that easy to understand, suggest that the 3-D drawing be more clear so that we can see how each piece is put together and how it should look. Otherwise, after several trials and errors, we did put it together. I like the accessory and makes cleaning the gutters a lot easier...Thanks

For years I have been both cautious and concern about safety and about damaging my gutters by resting the ladder against the gutters. With this product, my concerns are over with. Easy to assemble, install and remove when done using it. Thanks a lot.

Before Ladder-Max, the ladder would slide to the side a little as it was leaning on the gutters. With Ladder-Max the ladder is firmly in place on the roof and not touching the gutters. No issues getting off the ladder onto the roof or reaching to the sides. The ladder stays put and does not move. What a great sense of security.

I received it a few days ago and just put it together today. It took me some time because I'm not mechanically inclined. The directions were correct but I didn't follow them correctly. Once I got it it didn't take long to assemble. It's very easy to use. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a ladder stand-off stabilizer.
